Environmental Health & Safety Industrial & Construction Ergonomics
Industrial and construction ergonomics applies ergonomic principles to manufacturing, fabricating, wood and metal working, custodial work, grounds keeping, construction, and maintenance activities.
Ergonomic hazards associated with these types of activities include:

  • Manual material handling (lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying)
  • Repetitive motion and high hand forces when using hand and power tools
  • Vibration from tools, equipment and vehicles

Industrial and construction ergonomic information can be found at the CDC and Washington State Department of Labor and Industries websites.
Contact Occupational Health & Safety (335-3041) for additional information and to schedule an ergonomic evaluation.
