Environmental Health & Safety Bloodborne Pathogens

General Information

Departments with occupational exposures to human blood or Other Potentially Infectious Materials (OPIM) are to develop and implement a site specific Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan (BBP ECP). Environmental Health & Safety provides the resources below to assist departments in developing their BBP ECP. Departments using human cell lines can incorporate a BBP ECP within their biosafety manual.

The WSU Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan when combined with the completed Site Specific BBP ECP Template and appropriate training provides a total Exposure Control Plan for areas where an occupational exposure to human blood or OPIM is anticipated.

Training

Employees with occupational exposure to human blood or OPIM are to receive initial and annual refresher training.
