Formal Forklift Operator Instruction

Departments can select from three options to provide formal (classroom) forklift operator instruction to their designated operators:

Option 1

The formal instruction training requirement can be met by each operator completing Powered Industrial Truck Safety accessible via Human Resource Services Learning and Organizational Development webpage (see also EH&S Training Overview).

Option 2

The formal instruction training requirement can be met by contracting with the manufacturer’s authorized training representative or a company specializing in forklift operator training.  The training needs to meet the Washington Administrative Code.

Option 3

Departments can use other formal training programs with approval from EH&S.
