Safety Committees
Safety Committees promote safety and health within Colleges, Departments and Areas. Members utilize their work experience and expertise to evaluate safety concerns; recommend practical and innovative solutions; create interest in safety; improve existing, and introduce new safety programs. All WSU employees are represented on a Safety Committee as outlined in SPPM 2.12. The fundamental responsibilities include:
- Reviewing Incident Reports and Accident Investigation Reports for hazard control and elimination.
- Performing and reviewing Safety Inspections.
- Evaluating and improving the workplace Accident Prevention Program.
- Promoting and reviewing the College, Department or Area Safety Training Program.
WSU provides resources to assist Safety Committees with program development, including Safety, Health and Security Advisory Committees. Please contact EH&S at 509-335-3041 for additional assistance.
