Department of Defense(DOD) Army Grants require a DOD approval of Washington State University’s Approved Safety Plan and written assurances that the Principal Investigator (PI) is complying with WSU’s
Safety Policies and Procedures Manual and related safety and health programs. The purpose of the policies and programs is to ensure the PI has identified and eliminated or controlled hazards associated with the research funded by the grant. Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) has obtained a five-year DOD institutional approval for the overall Washington State University Safety Plan. However, DOD further requires for each grant submitted, that research specific safety programs and policies must be implemented. Annual paperwork must be submitted to EH&S to verify that there have been no changes to the approved research.
