Desks and Keyboard/Mouse Trays

Desk height and configuration are based on your stature, workstation components, and types of tasks. If the keyboard and mouse are placed on the desk top then the general rule of thumb is to adjust the desk and/or your height so your forearms and wrists are parallel to the floor when the fingers are resting on the home row keys.

Workstations with an articulating keyboard/mouse tray should be adjusted so your forearms and wrists are parallel to the floor when the fingers are resting on the home row keys.

The optimal workstation configuration is dependent on the types of tasks. Typical configurations include a standard desk and “L” and “U” shaped desks.   Additional workstation configurations include sit/stand and mobile units.
